Confirmation letter from HO
« on: January 14, 2018, 12:30:18 AM »
Hi there.....

I sent off out application for FLR(M) on Tuesday. I was hoping to get everything checked here before posting it out but we had so much on  [smiley=computer.gif] getting everything sorted that i did not get a chance. So here's hoping for the best  [smiley=sick.gif]

Today me and my 2 boys (all British citizens) got our passports back with a confirmation letter. We were shocked that they sent them back soooo quick!

My question is:
The letter says "We will be in contact with you shortly to confirm whether or not your application is subject to a service standard and ask you to register your biometrics. Should you need send any further documentation in connection with this application, please forward this to the following address".
It gives the address for UKVI Sheffield.

What does it mean by subject to a service standard???  ???

From what I’ve seen here on the forum, normal to get the passports back pretty quickly, though it’s usually at least a week, I think.

The ‘service standard’ is the target processing time set by UKVI in which they have to process the application. For FLR(M), the service standard is 8 weeks.

So, I think what the letter is saying is that they will let you know whether your application will fall under the normal 8-week service standard or if it’s a more complicated application that might take longer (I.e. in that case, they’re covering themselves to stop you from complaining if it takes more than 8 weeks).
