Daycare costs?

Hey, I have only found old treads about daycare costs. How much do yours run? We both expect to be working full time. I will be on a Tier 2 visa. Thanks.

Ours were about £1,200 a month for full-time care for each -- at £5 per hour from 7 am to 5 pm, plus incidentals/the occasional day where we needed to work late. The base was about £1,000 a month, and then the cost increased based on days where we needed to drop early/pick up late, etc.

I think £45 per day is pretty standard where I live. Slightly less for childminders. What age is your child?

I'm in the Southeast of England and it's about £1200 a month full time for my baby (under 2).  My older child (3) is a bit less as the price drops a bit as they get older and they get 15 hours "free" during term time.  But it's still every bit of £2,000+ per month.

Ouch! And I think my cats are expensive!

£35k-ish?  Give or take a few...

Had the call with the nursery today. Ours is £933 per month which includes nappies and food also.

We broke even at £35k with using the max childcare vouchers available. It was a career booster for me but not a money maker, unfortunately!

Thanks all! This actually looks terrible and more expensive than here in the US! My husband will probably be a stay at home dad I think.

Goodness, I thought the fact I work shifts was a bad thing, but maybe it's conducive to only paying for part time daycare someday instead of morning and evening sessions....

In the US we just paid $1,800 a month for one, so I wouldn't say it's worse! Sending him to private school is cheaper -- was never so grateful to see his birthday!
