travel visa for UK citizen to USA
« on: March 05, 2018, 10:47:36 AM »
Hi everyone.  :)

I have not been back to the USA in over six years. My (British-born) husband has never been out of the country. I believe that he needs a travel visa to enter the USA.  Is this correct?

Welcome back to the forum :).

No, he doesn't need a visa to enter the US (unless he has criminal convictions), because UK citizens are eligible to travel visa-free under the Visa Waiver Program.

However, he will need to register his details with ESTA before he travels, which is the electronic visa waiver system. ESTA has replaced the landing cards that you used to fill out on the plane. It costs $14 and lasts for 2 years, so unless his details change, he won't need to re-register for ESTA for 2 years.

See here for registering for ESTA:

Hiya Ksand! :)  I hope you are well.

Thank you for this. I couldn't for the life of me remember what it was called - ESTA. Thank you very much!   ;)
