Accommodation evidence question
« on: April 01, 2018, 12:15:31 AM »
Hey gang. I'm applying for ILR this summer and there is a small gap at the beginning of our accommodation evidence. In September 2016 we left the flat we were renting and stayed with a friend (in a flat he owned) for what was supposed to be a few weeks while we waited to close on our flat and we put a hold on all of our post. Unfortunately this turned into about four months due to some complications in the process. We'll have no trouble showing evidence of our cohabitation between January 2017-August 2018, but we don't seem to have anything for the four months before that. Is there something I can use to close this besides post? A notarized letter from my friend maybe?

Thanks!

Shouldn’t be an issue.

You could just explain in a letter why you don’t have any mail for that 4-month period, and see if you can find some mail dated before that time that you can include instead.

Alternatively, you only need to show mail every 4 months anyway, so you may be able to time it so you don’t need to include anything from that missing time period at all.

For example you could show mail from:
Aug/Sep 2016
Jan 2017
May 2017
Sep 2017
Jan 2018
May 2018

And then you wouldn’t even need to mention those missing months because you would meet the requirements anyway.
