Toddler sedation
« on: December 07, 2004, 07:13:48 PM »
I have to take my toddler (well he's nearly 3) for a CT scan tomorrow. We tried two weeks ago but he wouldnt lay still so we had to reschedule for tomorrow morning. They are going to have to admit him and sedate him. Im freaking out about it. I wish he would just lay still for the two minutes or less it takes for the scan. :(

I have a friend who's young son had to be sedated for a scan recently as well, and I can't imagine how hard it must be.  :-[ My thoughts are with you and your boy, and hoping that everything is calm and safe and warm and only a blip on the map.

Good luck to you and your little boy, my thoughts are with you.  Keeping a little child still is so hard, I hope it all works out.

Hugs, Pebbles.  Everything will be fine-I know it's worrying and upsetting but I know a few people who've had CT scans on their little ones and they all said it wasn't nearly as bad as they'd been afraid it would be.

you're his rock, you'll be fine because he needs you.  mommy genes are super for that.  hopefully your partner is rock enough to let you vent, or at least get you some tea? :)  best of luck

Coby did just fine. They gave him some yucky tasting syrup and he spat most of it out. As he started getting sleepy he actually wound up and was like a wild animal. Anyone who has a toddler knows how they get when they get tired. The nurse said if he doesnt sleep soon they will have to give him another dose. Finally they wheeled him down to Xray and put him in a dim, quiet room. He slept for a few min and they were able to do the scan. When he came home he was very very tired but wouldnt sleep. He was falling over his feet and whining.
Now just waiting for the results. Could be ages but I suspect if they found something wrong they would contact me ASAP.
Thanks for everyone's support!
Ricki
