Thank you @lyonaria and @larrabee - my natural born Scottish husband wants me to make sure you know he is "full-blooded" and all that 😂- he feels he is more than a settled person. It's been a year for me doing all that paperwork and now what you're saying is ringing a bell so thank you--I actually was not even looking at that option! I'm good to go on it, but he just wants to be sure. Thanks so much!
Lol - 'settled' just means you have the right to live and work in the UK without a visa or any kind of immigration restrictions.
So, UK citizens and people who hold ILR or Permanent Residence (PR) are considered 'settled' in the UK.
Settlement is not to be confused with a 'settlement visa' though.
Settled person = someone who is “free from any restriction on the period for which he / she may remain in the UK, and ordinarily resident in the UK”
Settlement = the act of becoming a settled person in the UK (receiving ILR or PR, or by being a UK citizen)
Settlement visa = a temporary visa issued for the purpose of eventually gaining settlement and therefore becoming a settled person in the UK
