Also, I don't know how long ago you last looked, but my husband and I would look on OpenReach every few months because we've been desperate for years. This was the first time our address showed as "taking orders". We then tried to order it online through BT, but we hit a message saying our order could not be placed and to call BT. So, rather reluctantly (I hate phones, but I was motivated), I did. And the cheerful Scottish woman at the other end let me order the fastest ultrafast service BT offers. Best phone call ever! Well, second-best... the phone call when I realized my husband was the one is still the best ever.
The whole time I was on the phone with the cheerful Scottish woman, my husband was all, "What? But how? I don't believe it..." And right up until yesterday morning when I saw the engineer calling for backup to get another van that has the hoist on it, we were both dubious that they sold me what I meant to be buying. But then the hoist van arrived, they brought in the fibre from down the street, installed the box, and my speed test has been happy-making ever since.
