Sorry - it just worked!

I have paid now - but I thought I could make the appointment in London? It seems there are none here and the rest don't have any available for the next 45 days.... Is that true?

Sorry all of the questions - I am just a bit worried for time now.

Ah, I was just writing this reply before you posted:

What you can do is put a fake IHS number in the appointment form so you can view the available appointments... that way you can see what's available before you actually pay the IHS surcharge - then you can go back and do it properly with the correct IHS number.

However, the appointments may all be booked up even 45 working days in advance - which means if you try to book an appointment today, you may only get an appointment on 17th September, which probably won't give you enough time to apply and get your BRP before you fly to the US.

I've just put in a fake IHS number and am just looking at the premium centres now... I've tried every single premium centre and they are all saying there are no available appointments at all in the next 45 working days.

This is a common issue where it shows no available appointments and you may find you can only view appointments if you log on at exactly midnight, 45 business days before you want your appointment.

Okay, so if it turns out there are no appointments and you can only get one 45 business days ahead, which will be too close to when you go to the US, it might be worth going ahead and applying by post ASAP.

You have 10 weeks before you go to the US, which might just be enough time to get your application processed by post, as long as the processing times don't stretch longer than 8 weeks.

I would keep trying all the different premium centres though, just to see if any appointments pop up... you may find you cannot get an appointment in London though and may have to travel to whichever city you can get an appointment in.

Interesting...

Okay so I have the IHS paid now and I can use that in person or via post right?

So would my best bet be via post - I can send it in next week and ideally get it by the end of August.... Do you agree?

Oh just saw your reply.

Perfect! I will do that - I will do my best to get my name on other bills in the meantime... right now, its the council tax only.
How do I get an NHS letter, is that from the GP? I didn't have any luck at the bank since my current visa is only valid until end of August...

I will also make sure to get a copy of my husband's passport - and it HAS to be every single page of it, right? Can it be double sided?

You go to the GP surgery and ask to register. You then fill out the forms, provide your passport, BRP and proof of address (i.e. council tax bill), and hopefully they will send you a letter within a few weeks.

Yes, it must be every page, including blank pages. No idea about double-sided.

This is what the guidance says:

Quote
If you are making your application by post you can send a complete and full copy of your sponsor’s valid or most recent passport, national identity card or travel document with your application. Every page of the passport must be copied including any blank pages. The copy does not need to be certified; your sponsor must sign the declaration at section 14 of the application form to confirm it is a complete and true copy of their current passport, national identity card or travel document.

Make sure passports or travel documents are signed.

Thanks!

If the GP letter takes a few weeks, though, I am not sure if I have enough time... will I be okay if I get my name on the utility and rent bills, and then write a letter as to why I don't have more at this time?

I don't think you're going to have time to get anything else in your name before you apply now - it could take another month or so to receive bills or letters in your name now (which is why we recommend doing it as soon as you arrive in the UK).

So, just include as much as you have right now in each of your names and write a letter to explain why you don't have 6 each yet

If you can, I would aim to get your application in the mail by Monday, to give yourself as much time as possible for the application to be processed before mid-September.
