In order to increase the amount and frequency I could move money last year (we bought a house) I opened a new account in my wife’s name using exactly the same bank accounts but a different email address. Is that an option moving forward?

I'm not sure we could make it work exactly like that but something similar may possibly be an option! Thank you!  :)

Did this get sorted for you Larrabee? I am really hoping it did!

I've only been using transferwise for about 2 months, and haven't been able to successfully set up a wire from my US bank so I've just been paying the minimal ACH fees. However, I still have to use their website instead of their app when sending money because it won't authenticate my account when using the app. I had to go through quite a few layers of security when I first set up my account because my US account is in my maiden name, and aside from that it's been pretty painless.

Thanks Margo, unfortunately, nope, it's an absolute nightmare still. Speaking to the bank at the moment and they can't seem to help. I now have three different escalations going!  And until Friday I had never had a bit of bother.

And you're doing the right thing! The bank debit (ACH) is the best way to pay. You don't want to wire money, that's the most expensive  way of doing things.  :)

Did you give Durhamlad's idea a go?  Open a new email address and link to the same bank details?  It's worth a shot!

Just an update on the situation. Apart from one transfer which mysteriously worked in the middle of all this mess, nothing that we tried did the trick, including trying to use the RSA secure ID device which I paid $25 for and had a really hard time getting them to send to me in the UK. (I'm glad to have it though as I may need it in the future as everything is tightening up so much)

After giving it a break for a good long while, this morning I finally tried a small transfer and paid with my debit card which has worked (YAY!) but I'm just waiting to see if there will be any extra fees at the bank end. They told me there is a 3% fee for an out of country transaction and Transferwise told me that it would be local so I am hopeful but I need to see for myself!

I'll be limited by the daily purchase limit on my card but seeing as I have never made a Transferwise transfer anywhere near that amount, looks like I might me fine from now on, fingers crossed.  :)

No extra fees were taken at the bank end, yay!  :)
