A few questions..
« on: July 31, 2018, 01:05:58 PM »
Hello again everyone,

So the day I get married to my American fiancee draws ever closer. I'm starting to get the visa packet together and have a few questions..

1- Does the copy of my passport (sponsor) have to be signed by a notary or can my regular solicitor do that?

2- I am going to provide chat logs as evidence of the relationship, we have always used Facebook messenger. I do know how to download the logs but I'm not 100% comfortable with sending all of our messages. There isn't anything incriminating or dodgy in there but I feel it's a bit of an invasion of privacy. Is there a way to just have a record of the chat being sent without actually showing the message? Or do I just have to grin and bear it.

I will probably have a few more questions as I get stuck into this but any help people can offer will be appreciated greatly.

Thank you in advance,

Alex

It doesn't actually have to be certified although if you choose to,  you can have it done. If you are in the UK, the Post Office can do it for around £10.

You actually should NOT send ANY message content. All you need to send is a list of dates, times and names. NO actual messages.

So, you'll want to go through the messages, choose maybe 60-80 from the entire relationship, at regular intervals, take a screenshot, crop out everything except the name and date and paste them into a Word doc. You should be able to get about 20-30 logs on 1 page.

So, say you're covering 2 years of a relationship (24 months), you might want to select 2 messages per month, to give 48 in total. If you're only covering 6 months, you might select 2 per week (8 per month), giving 48 in total.
