Price increases and BRP dates
« on: August 05, 2018, 09:59:15 AM »
Hello! I am wondering if there is a place on the forum that alerts of price increases. I have seen them announced during my visas but not sure if there is a link. On that note does anyone know of any increases? I will hopefully be starting a new job and want to mentally get an idea of what I need to put back for part 2 of the FLR(M) visa. I am currently on my first FLR(M) after my fiance visa.    Also, does this visa expire the date of your BRP? Mine is up Nov 2020 so I am assuming that I can apply 28 days before that date. Do I pay another NHS fee as well? Just planning wayyyyy ahead for ££$$ thank you!!!!

The NHS fee is doubling soon to £1,000.

The current fee for the visa is £1,033 but usually rises about 25% each year (this year was an exception).

If you want/need to apply in person it’s currently an extra £610 but this also increases substantially each year.

Just keep saving though.  ILR is the big fee visa which is your final visa after 5 years.

Thank You! Out of curiosity and saving for it do you know the current grand total for the ILR? Also.is the living in the UK test free?

The life in the UK test is £50

I’d budget £2,500 for FLR(M).

£3,500 for ILR.

£1,500 for citizenship (optional).

Currently the LIUK test is £50 per try.  They are currently approved to raise the fee up to £250 though I think it’s highly unlikely it’ll increase to more than £100.

This is rip off Britain.  Nothing is free.   ;)

Throwing it out there because our FLR(M) re-applys are relatively close– mine is April 2020, hoping to slide in before the fees go up that year. I'm budgeting about £3,000-ish for my 2nd round. I also have to renew my passport and a couple other things before my application. Really based on all the figures that KFdancer brought up.

I'm also hoping to do the in-person service because my job means I travel fairly frequently and need an ID on me. Can't really afford to not have my passport for extended periods of time. Will mean I'll need to save a bit more.

However, doing the mail-in service will save you quite a bit; and if you can be without your passport for a bit, I'd recommend going that route TBH.

2020: ( •̀ᄇ• ́)ﻭ✧ FLR(M) approved
2022: ୧ʕ•̀ᴥ•́ʔ୨ ILR done
2024: (°◡°♡) Citizenship process begun

Check in before you do, as FLR(M) has consistently been at 6-8 week’s processing for awhile now.  If you can find a good window where you won’t need to travel, you may be able to save a wad of cash!

Oh believe me, come St Patrick's day 2020 (ironically about at my reapplication mark), I'll be on here hurriedly working on my application. And if I can get my boss to let me stay in the office for a bit, I'm saving that money for a celebratory "visa successful party" lol

Save it for an in-person appointment for your ILR.  :)  By the time 5 years is finished, you are definitely going to want to be over with the whole process asap after that!   ;D

True. It literally just comes down to if I can talk my boss into giving me only jobs that won't require any passport/ID, which is possible but not super probable.  ::)
