Biometrics appoint - Do I need to take anything?
« on: January 05, 2021, 07:30:09 PM »
Hello,

We have our biometrics appointment tomorrow in Birmingham! Do we need to take any paperwork with us? I have all the papers that were addressed to us that we used as our proof of address.

I don't have physical copies of payslips etc, since they are online documents. Do I need them with me on a flash stick?

Lastly, is this appointment interview-style? or is it just a case of getting the biometrics processed and fairly straight forward?

I think you'll need your ID at least (BRP, passport) too along with the page with the QR code on from the booking (at least that's what we were told).

We also took along all of our documents too that we had uploaded for our appointment last month.

I'm not sure about electronic ones - I guess this is a new thing, but I strongly doubt they'll put a USB stick into their computers.

It is not an interview.

You will need to bring your physical copies either for them to upload if you have paid for this service, or for them to re-upload if they are not happy with what you have submitted.

They will need to be on paper and remember if your bank statements and payslips are downloaded from online, they need to be validated in the usual way by the bank and your employer.

There was some talk a few months ago that this wasn't necessary any more but on looking at the rules in more detail, it became apparent that it is still required for the partner visas.

Thanks guys. It was fairly straightforward. My wife went in (I wasn't allowed as it is applicant only). They checked her BRP, passport and just took her biometrics. Asked her if she was happy with the documents uploaded and then that was it.
