BRP pickup confusion

Went to go pick up my BRP.. the letter that came with my documents said I could pick it up starting on the 12th of September. I arrived in the U.K. on the 10th. Today (the 12th) I drove 40 minutes to go pick it up and they told me that it wouldn’t be there till the next delivery day which is Saturday (the 15th!) so I have to wait until Monday to go pick it up because I am unavailable (have a wedding to go to) on Saturday.
Is this a normal thing that it isn’t available when the letter said it would be?

Yes, that can happen, especially if you try to pick it up on the first day it says it will be available.

Sometimes it just doesn’t get delivered to the Post Office in time to be picked up on the first day, so you may have to wait a few days.
