NONPARTISAN - keep it that way.

ARRO (the Association of Americans Resident Overseas) is a well known group supporting US expats. It has undertaken an initiative to determine which candidates, from all parties, and from the most prominent States representing Americans in Europe, who are running for seats in the Congress and Senate in the upcoming election supports Americans abroad. If you are from California, Florida, Illinois, Massachusetts, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Washington, you will find the following most interesting. If your favourite candidate has not responded, you may want to enquire as to why they haven't.

Every candidate from every party was sent the questionnaire. Responses can be found on the sidebar on the right hand side. Simply click on the State you are interested in. The questions concern taxation, services for Americans abroad, and access to banking and investing.

Self explanatory -

Thanks for the link, my Representative is Kevin Brady in the Texas 8th district. Unlikely indeed that he will be displaced and a shame that he did not respond to the questions as he is chairman of the House Ways and Means committee.

There are only nine states showing... I assume that means that only (some of the) representatives from those states have responded, so all other states, they have so far decided to ignore this survey?

8/1/2016 - FLR(M)#2 by post -- approved!
8/5/2018 - ILR in person -- approved!
22/11/2018 - Citizenship (online, with NDRS+JCAP) -- approved!

Even for those that responded in those 9 States I expect few Representatives responded, most of the responses are probably from candidates, as in the case of my district where 2 candidates responded and the encumbent did not respond.

Neither did Holding, who is sponsoring the bill discussed at the recent London event.   ???

Ah, I see - my mystification on this point was self-inflicted: the questionnaire wasn’t sent to candidates in Holding’s state (NC).

Only candidates in the 9 States listed were contacted.

If you would vote in a State not listed, it might be interesting to contact all candidates in the district you would/will be voting in for their responses to;
Would you commit to working with Americans residing abroad to reform the current citizenship-based US tax system?
Would you support online access to government agencies and adequate funding for consular functions upon which Americans abroad rely?
Would you support an enforceable right for all US citizens to a US bank account so they can retain their US savings and retirement accounts and make and receive payments in the United States?

The State I would vote in is not listed, but nonetheless, I am considering contacting the candidates in my district and posing the question (those running for the House and Senate). I have no intentions to vote,....unless a candidate responds with a sincere comment.

If you are unsure of which district you would vote in, google US Congressional Districts (your State) maps.

ADDED:
Responses from candidates will be added to the ARRO site as they are received. There are more on the lists today than there were last night.

Brady received the following letter:
