UK NT tax code
« on: September 24, 2018, 02:18:56 PM »
Hey guys,

I am applying for an NT tax code in the UK (i've done it once before but the paperwork got lost somewhere....).

I am US resident and have been for several years.

I have seen two forms for this - and references to each one -  which are very similar but one seems US specific (the 2002) and I assume that's the one I need to fill in (again):

Thanks

A

It has been 11 years since I had to do this, when I started to receive a UK pension and HMRC began taking payments under PAYE. I was a US resident at the time. It was definitely form 2002 that I completed and sent to the IRS and within a couple of months my tax code was changed to NT and I received a refund for the 2 months PAYE tax that had been paid.

Hopefully someone will come along shortly with a more recent experience.

Use the Form US - Individual 2002, because it is specifically for the US/UK.

Note that it has to be sent to the IRS and they send it on to HMRC.
