Thank you. I think I had read those posts already but was getting confused by what the VFS website said versus the UK.gov site. I'm guessing that's what they're referring to when they say all the published info hasn't caught up.

I know what you mean. Sadly, right hand doesn't seem to talk to left hand over there. :)

It is confusing, especially when they don't update the changes in a timely manner.

Back in 2013, when they moved the processing of settlement applications from New York to Sheffield in the first place, they didn't update the online application with this information for several months, and it still told applicants to mail everything to Sheffield... so we had a number of people accidentally sending their documents to NYC, only for them to be mailed back to them a few weeks later with instructions to mail them to Sheffield!

And the deadline for mailing the documents to Sheffield was reduced from 2 weeks to 5 days back in September 2015, but the online application was still telling people it was 2 weeks even in 2018!

Ultimately though, the gov.uk website contains all the official information, laws and guidelines as set out by the UK government, while VFS global is a third-party commercial partner who handles the application submission process on behalf of UKVI.

Exactly this! That is why I don't take anything for granted till I can find it on the official site and will only post anything from said site. :)

For the travel documentation as part of proof of our relationship...are just flight receipts/itineraries okay or should I also provide hotel confirmations for our trips together?

You don't need any hotel confirmations. All they need to see is that you travelled to see each other.

Ideally, you want to include the boarding passes, because they show you actually got on the plane, but if you don't have all of them, you can include the printed e-ticket instead.

I always use mobile boarding passes so I definitely don't have any paper ones. I will have to send the receipts. I suppose they'll also see the stamps in my passport too, although not my partner's since he only sends his photo page.

They are unlikely to look at passport stamps anyway, but if you still have any of the mobile boarding passes on your phone, you could screenshot and print them out.

Unfortunately not. They aren't available in the app once the flight is past date.

Ah, okay - in that case, just print the e-ticket confirmations and include them :).

I do have my monthly frequent flyer statements though that shows the mileage added to my account after a flown flight. I suppose including that could help prove I actually took the flights. I have those for his accounts too.

No, you should be fine with just the e-tickets... that's what everyone else provides if they don't have the boarding passes :).

Just chiming in...

I sent mine earlier this month to NYC. I sent all the documents as original A4s and then also shrunk them down to fit US size. It cost about $40 to do at FedEx. Not a pleasant way to spend a few hours, but better than a rejection, I guess?

Their letter is fine and more than adequate.

I was going to say that the letter you wrote has way too much information and all it needs to say is that they confirm he is a tenant and they give permission for you to live there.

You also do NOT need to include a council tax statement, because it is not relevant to the application.

So, you just need to send:
- the tenancy agreement
- the landlord letter giving you permission to live there too
