Visa Renewal Property Inspection
« on: November 15, 2018, 08:47:39 PM »
I am renewing my spousal visa through an immigration solicitor that insists I need a property inspection. It looks like the service is offered to people that haven't yet moved to the UK according to the council website. My husband and I own the property so overcrowding is definitely not an issue. Is an inspection really necessary? I didn't have one done for my initial visa. Will land registry documents be enough? Anyone have experience with this?

A property inspection is not needed for any spousal visa application, whether the application is made outside the UK or inside the U.K

If the solicitor is recommending one, they are likely just trying to make some extra money off you as they get commission etc. If a solicitor says you need one, it’s a red flag that they don’t know what they are talking about and may not be the best person to assist you.

Unless you have serious criminal convictions or a history of refused visas or illegal working or overstaying in the U.K., you are unlikely to need a lawyer at all. All the information and advice about how to apply can be found for free on the UKVI website and here on the forum.

Edited to add:
- your Land Registry document is all you need, though you can also include your latest original mortgage statement if you like

Also, welcome to the forum :)

Olga we’ve had an issue of EVERY SINGLE THREAD you reply on being shut down due to not following forum rules.  This is detrimental to people seeking our advice which is concise, correct, referencing government resources, evaluating each situation for their own merit, and free.

Please follow the forum rules:

A property inspection is NOT required.  Show us where it is within the requirements.

Amazing that I’ve managed 4 visa applications and citizenship without a property inspection.   ;D
