Home ownership evidence
« on: November 29, 2018, 09:02:48 PM »
Hey guys,

Quick question. My wife and I will be staying in my parents home, a house that they own and pay mortgage on.

I have the land registry document and she is sending her most recent council tax statement and water bill. Her mortgage statement gets sent yearly as opposed to monthly and this was sent in April this year. Will all of this be sufficient? Just a bit conscious about her mortgage statement as her mortgage company isn’t sending her a statement for last month. Will this be a problem is all the above sufficient enough?

Thank you!

All you need is the Land Registry document.

You can send the latest annual mortgage statement if you like, but it's only optional (mortgage statements are only sent annually anyway so you would just send the most recent one)

You DO NOT need:
- water bill
- council tax bill

Okay perfect, thank you.

Whilst you’re here, can I ask about bank statements?

We are sending our documents on Monday and the last payslip will be this months, Nov 28th. When should the 1st month start from, to ensure that we have covered 6 months? This also goes for my bank statement, I’m including from November 29th (printing tomorrow). When should the first day of the 6 months be for the statements to cover 6 months? I hope that all made sense

Okay, if your last payslip is dated 28th November, you count back exactly 6 months from that date and your payslips and bank statements must cover every single day of the 6 months.

For example:
Last payslip: 28th November

Your 6 months will be:
28th May to 28th November

So, your first bank statement MUST show you were in employment and paid for working on 28th May. If your payslip explicitly states "28th May" on it, then you can use it, but if it's dated after 28th May, you will need the April payslip as well.

Your bank statements must cover the same 6 months, and show the deposit of every payslip you are including.

In fact, it's usually safer to send 7 months of both payslips and bank statements, just to make sure you are covering the entire 6 months, so I would recommend sending payslips and bank statements from:
April
May
June
July
August
September
October
November
