Hi everyone. My husband started a job in October and has a "zero hours" contract. He earns an hourly wage, and they are always giving him a lot of hours. He is often able to take extra shifts for extra money as well and always earns over £1550/month (£18,600/12). I am wondering if we can meet the financial requirement this way. He is under the impression that he would just need a letter from his employer confirming he would continue to receive this many hours. If we can meet the financial requirement, I am hoping to finally apply for my spouse visa in June. Thanks!
In order to qualify for the visa, he must:
- have been earning an average of at least £18,600 per year for the last 6 months (it’s averaged if he is paid hourly)
AND
- show that he will continue to earn at least £18,600 every year for the foreseeable future.
His employer MUST write a letter confirming that he has been earning at least £18,600 for the last 6 months and that he will continue to earn at least £18,600 annually (if he is paid by the hour, this will likely be shown by an hourly wage and minimum contracted hours which equate to earning £18,600 per year).
His employer must be able to guarantee in writing that he will definitely work at least the number of hours required to meet the £18,600 requirement every year.
The employer letter must state ALL of the following:
- current employment and annual salary
- length of employment
- length of time earning current salary
- type of employment (full or part time, permanent or temporary).
