@seeskaper , I am very sorry with your situation, but I don’t understand why you are so stubborn. Why do you need to take another chance if they told you not to come back without spouse visa?

I think you are too positive about UKVI. First time I was refused illegally, so we were to apply the second time. I didn’t have any records in my file before I was rejected first time. When I came over to the UK a week ago, I was grilled about my previous visa rejection (not even the border entry).

If you have spare money, just go to France for fitting or any other country.

I think you've been very lucky to have been granted entry to the UK so many times, especially if you've been honest about the fact that you've been living there on a visitor visa.

Just because you've been privileged enough to not have any problems before doesn't mean you should push your luck now.

As KFdancer said, it's good that you've noticed the problems before it's too late to get back on the right track.

I'd put everything on the back burner now and get your status sorted. You need to be legal. Everything else (dress, fitting, blessing ceremony, etc) can wait.

If you do try to re-enter, you'll delay your visa process and might cause more problems that would have to be addressed (and scrutinized) with each new application.

As others have mentioned, you've been told not to return without the correct visa. That will be noted in their system. If you try to enter without the correct visa, they'll know.

If you're planning to move to the UK, your status will need to be sorted out. It will suck now, but it needs to be prioritised over your dress and wedding.

Hopefully your visa will be granted swiftly and you can carry on with your plans for your blessing ceremony, but for an international move, the visa is one of the most important bits to get right. Not doing so could jeopardize your plans.

Get your visa. Don't try to skirt the rules. Don't push your luck. Play by UKVI's rules. Once you're on the other side of this, it will be worth it.

We've all been there to some degree and we'll tell you that following the rules and not pushing your luck is the best way forward.

I am going to stay here (USA) and not try to go back to UK.

I’m too scared to take the risk jeopardize the visa.

I’ll pay VSF Global for the privilege of keeping my passport and ask the dressmaker to meet me in France. It’s an awful lot to expect but hopefully she agrees to do it.

If my father in law dies in the months I’m waiting for my visa (practically certain that he will) I’ll never see him again and won’t be able to go to the funeral. Something I’m trying to accept now.

I’m still concerned about my visa possibly not being approved just on the fact I accidentally applied from within UK before...and I was working remotely (I thought that was allowed but now know better).

So, feeling pretty hopeless at the moment. So much so that I just want my husband and dogs to come back here to US. :(

How about asking if she’ll consider Aquila’s suggestion for the duct tape dummy?

It also may be cheaper to just apply for a 2nd passport vs paying for priority. Since your case is not so straightforward, paying for priority may be a waste of money.

I know it's a tough situation and you've got a lot going on, but I think you've made the right choice.

It will suck being away, but it's better to be away now than have more immigration obstacles in your way later.

Visas are nothing to mess around with and UKVI sucks.

You'll get through this. Once you're on the other side, it will all be a distant memory.

I think you are making great choices and totally agree about pursuing Aquila's idea!

The Gold service is a horrible rip off and is really encourage you NOT to use it.  It will take LONGER to process if you use gold!

I would still go with the priority application even if your case is not straightforward. The earlier it will be opened, the earlier you will get your decision.

Maybe you can fly your dress designer to the USA.

Second passport idea is brilliant. That might be key. Thanks for that suggestion!

There is priority for $834 (can't keep passport)....can expect decision in 2ish months, correct?

There is premium for $1700 (can keep passport), website says aims to process within 30 days - but others on the forum have had longer wait times - sometimes longer than priority despite paying so much more. So that's super scary.

Then there are "user pay services" which you can pay for a la carte but can not see until you are submitting the application and paying.

SO, I'm thinking to do priority and if I can pay a la carte to keep my passport, I'll do that OR if it's cheaper to get a second passport I'll do that...so I can go to France to meet dressmaker (if she will go, I will ask her tomorrow).

I'm having a hard time swallowing that I'm paying 7K pounds for a dress (which is an astronomical amount of money for me but we splurged and had I know this visa muck was going to happen I wouldn't have of course) and then have to resort to a duct tape model. Clever idea though, thanks for sharing. I'll definitely keep it as part of the arsenal!

So...anything wrong with my plan?  ???

Hi!

It's been awhile ;) ... but I'm just popping back to say that everything worked out. It was super stressful but thankfully no more major dilemmas.

My husband's stepfather passed on May 19. His funeral was June 4. I was not able to go back to the UK for the funeral.

I applied for a second passport in NYC, was able to get one on the same day. I went to Paris May 26 - June 5, met my dressmaker (she came to Paris from London on the Eurostar) for my dress fitting. My husband also came to Paris from the UK and we spent a week together there which was very nice...and he returned to London for the funeral June 4. I returned to the USA and waited on word for my visa.

My visa application arrived at the UK decision making center on June 4.
We paid for the priority service.
I received an email from the decision making center on July 12.
My package arrived in USA within a few days with the approval and visa.
I flew back to the UK the next week.
We had a whirlwind of wedding planning to finish, and had our wedding on Sept 10.
