International Assignment, half year tax question

Hello. My company is sending me on an international assignment where I'll be in the US half the year and UK the other half. If I am in the UK working on a US salary for 6 months or less, do I still need to file UK taxes?

In such circumstances I would expect my employer to provide or pay for a tax professional. This is what my employer did for me many years ago.
