Hi Everyone,
I was introduced to this forum by an American friend that recently married a Brit and moved to the UK. She said this helped her immensely when figuring out visas, work, and all the necessary paperwork needed.
About me. After nearly 4 years of long-distance and plenty of money spent on flights, my partner (who is a dual Irish/UK citizen) and I will tie the knot this July and plan on calling Edinburgh home. I'm on this forum to learn from folks that have gone through this process already, hear from people about balancing their American family and new family, and everything I need to know about visas.
I'm excited to learn and get this process started!
Thank you in advance any and all of those that respond and have already posted about their experience/knowledge!
Hi! As your friend (and ours!) MrsMagpie has said, you've found the right place. If you haven't already, have a look around in the different sections of the forum... at this stage, the most important section for you is likely the
Visas and Citizenship forum, where we can help you sort out what you need for your applications over the next five or six years. When you're getting close to applying, start a thread there with your situation, and we will talk you through. (I suspect MrsMagpie has already given you a head start, so there shouldn't be too many surprises for your application.)
But don't be a stranger! We have quite a few "fun" sections, and a lot of "coping with moving to a new culture" sections, as well, that you might not think you need 'til you are confronted with the reality of living here full time.
