Heading off to the USA in about 10 days
« on: February 18, 2019, 11:54:21 AM »
We will be flying out of Gatwick on Norwegian Air at the end of the month to Ft Lauderdale, couple of days there then 2 week cruise through the Panama Canal to LA where we will stay will our daughter for 2 weeks then fly direct back  to Gatwick on Norwegian Air.

Never flown on this airline before, but the convenience and prices were amazing. No airport changes. Since last going to the USA I have had heart surgery (AF Ablation in October) so it was a relief to get a letter from the travel insurance company stating that I still have emergency room health cover. My suspicious mole removals and my wife's cataract surgeries were also accepted but I did expect those to be no problem.

We both have brand new US passports and since we still have a year left on our Global Entry trusted traveler program I went online and updated our GE records.

I only have $3 in cash but am trusting that our US debit card will still work in an ATM when we arrive.  I used it here last week to check the balance in our account and it works.

Really looking forward to the trip now.

That sounds like an amazing trip!  So long, too!  I hope it is every bit as awesome as it sounds.

Have a nice trip! Make sure the bank knows you're travelling so they don't disable the card from a fraud alert. I hope you take some photos, a cruise through the Panama canal sounds amazing!

...2 week cruise through the Panama Canal to LA ...

I did that cruise a couple of times when I worked for Royal Caribbean. It's cool to see so many places on one trip, and the canal itself was really interesting. Have a good trip!

It has been on our bucket list for the longest time, and we will visit 5 new countries. All the time living in Texas and we never actually went to Mexico, not counting the time we went on a guided canoe trip down the Rio Grande in Big Bend National Park and ate lunch on the banks of the river on the Mexican side.
