Change of address question
« on: March 15, 2019, 06:47:35 PM »
Hi all,

Was hoping if someone can help answer some questions regarding correspondences for ILR, especially around change of address.

My wife's ILR application is still not due for more than a year, but I want to ensure that we prepare correctly due to a house move situation we're in.

Basically we're selling our current house, and will have to temporarily move into my parent's house before purchasing our next house. This means I will need to change the address on some of our joint correspondences (mainly bank statements) to my parent's address, and then change it again once we move to our new house.

If at the time of applying we supply correspondences for ILR from when we lived at my parents, would we need to supply anything extra with them? Or do we simply state in the application that my parents house is one of the addresses we lived at in the last two years?

Thanks

I’d state their address on the application. And I think you may also need to provide a letter from them confirming that you were living with them at that time.

The number of different addresses on your documents really doesn’t matter - what’s important is that you both received mail at the same address as each other, at the time of each document being received.

So, if you moved a lot, you might have a different address on each of the 6 documents... the important thing is that both your names are on each document used (or that you have a document each at the same address for the same time period).
