In my cover letter I gave very specific examples of how I met each of the "required" attributes of the job spec. For anything where I didn't have that specific skill I explained how something I'd done was similar. The interviews were very skills example heavy. And I wore a black shift dress w/ suit jacket and flat Mary Jane shoes (since I can't wear heels) to both interviews.
Now comes the fun of asking for the specific adjustments I need, but they shouldn't be a problem.
