Spouse Visa Documents Checklist!!!
« on: May 27, 2019, 01:51:25 PM »
Hello guys, basically have everything ready now for our spouse Visa application from Japan. Just wanted to post my documents list here and see what could be done to improve or if im missing anything! Thanks!

Applicant Documents-
Priority Receipt
Contents Letter(working on this right now, any help would be appreciated) about this, my front pages include the contents. for example my front page would be sponsor's documents - passport photo page - support letter. DO i still need to include a contents page?
Printed Online Application
Appendix 2
IHS Receipt
IELTS A1 English Test
Current Passport
-I think our only choice is to scan, therefore no return labels.

Sponsor Documents
Sponsor Passport Photo Page{Not certified, but may get it done tomorrow}
Sponsor Cover Letter

Financial Documents
6 Months of original Payslip(Stamped and signed)
6 months of Original Bank Statements from the bank, date stamped(They asked if i needed date stamp or certified stamp) Im not sure about this?
Letter from Employer (Start date, salary, permanent contract, payslips are genuine)

Accomodation Documents
Land Lord letter of no objection
Housing Report
Tenancy Agreement
Letter from mother & brother saying theyre happy for my wife to stay.

Relationship Evidence
Marriage Certificate w/ Official Translation
Lots of photos of us together, also with friends and family.
Flight tickets(Not all, but some)
Valentines/christmas/birthday cards/wedding cards from family etc. (Should we include the original, or scan them to a4 paper) GOV says everything should be on A4 paper.  Im not sure if they want all different sized cards xD
Facebook Messenger Logs
Supporting Letter
Some receipt of places we stayed together

I am no expert, I only have experience as someone who has recently applied/is waiting a decision and all my research was done as a US applicant so I'm not sure how it varies when applying from Japan. Hopefully someone can come along and offer more.

But cross-referencing from my own checklist (again don't know how much this would differ for your circumstances) I sent it seems you have your bases covered. I would just make sure that your payslips cover a full 6 month period, that your employer letter is on letter headed paper, and that these are of course dated within 28 days of the submission.

Also, did you not have to attend biometrics?

As far as the contents letter, I personally just included the contents in my (applicant) letter. Basically I just briefly stated the dates of our relationship (began dating, engagement, trips, wedding) why we chose the UK to live, and then listed the content we were including. We had a separate letter for my husband (sponsor) that went into more detail about how we were meeting the requirements and again dates, and why we were choosing the UK.

Best wishes during this process!  :D

In Japan, biometrics are attended at a visa application centre at the same time as submitting the documents.

The OP will now not actually be applying until end July/early August due to payslip requirements, so they will attend biometrics then.

All that goes in the sponsor letter, not the contents letter.

The applicant contents letter should include no relationship information and should just include:
- visa type and date you want visa to start
- any discrepancies/explanations about the documents
- explanation of any criminal convictions or previous bad U.K. immigration history
- list of documents in package

If there is nothing to explain the contents letter would just say:

To The Entry Clearance Officer,

Please find enclosed my application as supporting documents for a settlement visa to join my husband/wife in the U.K. I would like my visa vignette to start on X date.

I am including the following documents in support of my application:

You mentioned earlier that you have lived together for most of the duration of your relationship (although I don't believe you have told us how long the two of you have been together) yet you do not have any evidence at all of the time you have lived together.

How long of a period are we talking about? Are you really not able to find anything at all which puts you together at the same address at the same time?

We did find our bills for when we stayed in Australia together, but when I stayed at her parents and she stayed at mine we don’t really have anything, although we will try and find our tenancy agreement for when we lived together in Japan, although it may well all be in Japanese.

Perfect! Thankyou! Yeah just knowing that all my documents are correct is good, all I need to do is wait for my payslips and get my bank statements and employer letter reissued again at the end of July. I’m glad all of our evidence seems fine.

Thankyou!

Hang on, I was only replying to the other post in regards to a contents letter - I didn’t check the rest of your documents.

Looking at them now, you do not need the following, so you can take them out:

Accomodation Documents
Housing Report

Relationship Evidence
- Lots of photos of us together, also with friends and family.
- Valentines/christmas/birthday cards/wedding cards from family etc. (
- Supporting Letter
- Some receipt of places we stayed together

Because:
- Housing reports are never needed

- You should not send more than 2 photos maximum... one from early in the relationship and one recent. ONLY you and your wife should be in the photos.

- only cards send to each other while
living apart count. Cards from family members cannot be considered.

- you do not need any receipts of places you stayed together, only flight tickets.

- I don’t know what you mean by ‘supporting letter’. The only letter you need is the sponsor letter, which outlines how you meet each visa requirement and gives a short history of the relationship

You are currently missing:
- UK job contract
- latest P60
- evidence of living together in Japan covering the length of time you lived together... translated into English if they are in Japanese
- letters/cards sent to EACH OTHER (you to your wife and your wife to you) if you have any
- any other correspondence to each other... phone calls logs, emails, instant messages etc.

I can for sure include my p60, does it need to be within 28 days of applying, does it need a certain requirement of salary, or is it just proving im working there?
Also job contract? I believe this isnt required, some people reccomend but my job contract is a giant like 50page booklet.

Also, about the cards, should I scan them or send the physical thing?

Yes, we're providing all we can in terms of communication between us.

Thank You ksand24, always a help.
