Purchasing a home

I have lived in the us with my usc husband for around 7 years and prior to that I was a student so didnt build up any credit, how long after moving to UK and having British credit cards do u think it would be before we had sufficient credit to buy a home? We would have probably a 20% deposit also.

Many banks won't give a mortgage to anyone without permanent settlement status, but I am going to see a mortgage advisor today about my husband and I buying a house, and she said she has personally approved loans to people in our situation, me not yet on ILR.

So, I'll let you know if were successful or not and which bank. I'm pretty sure it's Lloyd's.
