Passport expiring with visa

If your spouse’s passport expires a year after getting the spouse visa (ie still have 1.5years left on it), how do they move the visa? Is there a process post applying for a new passport? Thanks

Once the applicant enters the country on their spouse visa, they pick up their BRP (biometric residence permit), this will be dated for the whole validity period and replaces the vignette in the passport.
