Citizenship Referees
« on: June 30, 2019, 05:18:03 PM »
I am a teacher and have been at the same school for 5 years.
Can both my referees be fellow teachers?
If not, can a retired civil servant be a referee or do they have to be working currently?

Ta!

I think both referees can be teachers, because the rules are:

- One must be a person of any nationality who has professional standing

- One must be a holder of a British passport who is either a professional person or over the age of 25

So, you should be able to use one teacher for each referee.

In regards to civil servants, the list of acceptable professionals says 'Civil Servant (Permanent)' which implies they would need to be permanently employed at the time of providing the reference: https://www.gov.im/media/624353/listofreferees.pdf
