ILR in processing - can you travel during this time?
« on: July 01, 2019, 10:17:21 AM »
Hello,

I submitted my ILR application earlier in late May (priority processing), and was told that a courier letter will be sent to my home and follow the instructions.  It's been over a month and to no surprise I haven't received the letter.  I have followed up multiple times with UKVI Contact Centre and they sent a referral to the 'appropriate team' and said I have to wait 30 days before they can submit another follow-up.

Very frustrating as it shouldn't take a month to receive a letter.  Anyways, can I travel during this time? With London airports now allowing US citizens to go through the e-gates, we don't need to see an officer now, nor does the e-gate ask to scan your FLR card.

Thanks

What service did you use?  Did you use the 24 hour decision service?  I suspect so as that's the "priority" option.

I'm confused. So the courier I imagine was to send/collect the documents? Is this correct? If the case how can a 24-hour decision be made?

i did my biometrics and received a reply from UK Home office within 24 hours (i.e. priority processing) indicating that they could not process the application within the 24 hour service.  They said that a letter would be sent to my home via courier and to follow the instructions.  They sent me this e-mail over a month ago.

Can someone please advise if I can travel during this time?  As mentioned London airports don't require to see an actual officer now as e-gates are now in effect.  I used them a few months ago and you can walk right through now.

As it sounds like your application might not be straight forward (as it wasn't decided in 24 hours) OR they may be having a "technical issue" (something that happens  A LOT), I'd recommend getting in touch with your MP and seeing if they can contact UKVI.  Unfortunately it could take up to 20 days for your MP to get an answer.

BUT, if your application has been flagged for some reason - you might not sail through the e-gates.  Personally, I wouldn't risk it and would see if your MP can get you answers - AND a refund of the priority service, as you certainly have not received what you paid for!
