IT issue with application -- checkbox never shown
« on: July 02, 2019, 07:15:21 PM »
Hi all –
Thanks to many for their insights on a previous question.

I have just submitted the application (Tier 4) online but unfortunately am now seeing a weird issue with a "No" response showing for a statement I was never shown while filling out the application!

The statement is in the Documents section under the mandatory documents, and says: "Check here to confirm that you are the national of a differentiation arrangement country and would like to submit your application under this arrangement." Because I never saw this statement, I never checked the box. But I would have absolutely checked the box based on being such a national!

So now it seems my application will be assessed under standard Tier 4 assessment, and I assume I would have to provide the usual supporting documents? But the checkbox not being selected doesn't seem to have changed the list of documents, so it's not clear to me if they are in fact necessary. Per the guidance on Tier 4 applications and differentiation arrangements that I've seen, they recommend never sending more documents than you need to, just in case one is slightly off. (I believe mine are all in order, but the stories online imply they can really go off on any slight question.)

I've contacted the email line for UKVI in the hopes they can resolve this, but I'm curious what others would recommend. Should I send all of the extra Tier 4 documents?  Or go only by what they're telling me is mandatory, i.e. my passport (plus the usual application printout and signed, various receipts from biometrics and IHS, etc.)?

If you are a US national, applying in the US, you do NOT need to provide the documents, because you are considered a low risk applicant.

I would just change the answer to YES in pen on the printed form and send it in without the extra supporting documents. You can also write a short cover letter explaining the correction and that you didn't see the question on the online form.

It would be great if I could do that... A write-in change like that would be accepted, you think?

It's been fine in the past for other types of visa applications.
