Can I I use the same document in 2 different catagories?
« on: July 17, 2019, 11:02:53 AM »
For Evidence of co-habitation, I need to use the joint bank account statement addressed to both of us, but I also need the same document in proof of Finances, can I use it in both places?

I used our annual mortgage statement as correspondence for my husband as well as part of our accommodation evidence (along with the Land Registry document) for our ILR application last year.  I stated that I was using it for both somewhere, and my application was back when in-person was a same-day decisions were a thing, so I told the person I submitted my documents to.

There is no section on the online application that lets you add notes, though. That I noticed at least

Really?  I didn't use the online application for ILR last year, but I did apply for citizenship online, and I'm pretty sure there was an overflow "anything else we should consider" type of question where I could include notes.  Nothing like that on FLR(M) or ILR?

My application was a super long time ago in regards to immigration-time (so usual caveat applies), but I also used a document to evidence both living together and for finances.  I'm not aware of anything that would prohibit this - either then or now.  I added a note to explain in the extra information section near the end of the application in case it wasn't obvious to the person assessing the application.

Yes, there is nothing to prevent you doing this. Personally, I avoided doing so as I didn't want to risk that it would be missed in one or other category but  there is no other reason not to.

I would definitely explain somewhere though. If there is not an any other information type section, as Ben suspects, I would include a cover note.

Unless I'm mis-remembering (which I'm prone to do at times), I'm pretty sure that section is still on the form.

My, how time flies....

* Married in the US and applied for first spousal visa August 2013
* Moved to the UK on said visa October 2013
* FLR(M) applied for  May 2016. Biometrics requested June 2016. Approval given July 2016.
* ILR applied for January 2019 (using priority processing). Approved February 2019.
* Citizenship applied for May  2019
* Citizenship approved on July 4th 2019
* Ceremony conducted on August 28th 2019

'Mommy, Wow! I'm a legit Brit now!'

Hopefully I missed it but I wasn't actively looking for it
