Fiance Visa Checklist
« on: July 17, 2019, 07:28:45 PM »
Hey guys, my partner and I have submitted our VISA application and I had this supporting document checklist made up before we done so, but I've just found this forum and would love if some of you could check it and let me know if I've missed anything

Application Forms

  • Online Application, completed & signed
  • Appendix 2 of VAF4A - Is this required for a fiance visa? I can't really find anywhere that mentions it - I've only noticed it from other applicants checkllists.
  • Return Shipping Label
  • Biometrics Confirmation Sheet
  • Contents Letter

Applicants Documents

  • Applicants Passport
  • Applicants cover letter (Basic facts like how we met, when we met, mention of how relationship was maintained - I've read that only a cover letter from the sponsor is required? Is it a good idea to include this?)

Sponsor non-financial documents

  • Photocopy of Sponsor passport
  • Sponsor cover letter (similar to applicant cover letter, including employment details)

Sponsor financial documents

  • Photocopy of 6 Months of payslips
  • Photocopy of Bank statements showing money entering account from work pay (I've read that these only have to be stamped/signed if not on official bank stationary? Is this the case? My bank statements were sent to me by the bank on bank stationary and include the banks address)
  • Letter from employee of sponsor confirming sponsor is employed there, the job title, how long the sponsor has been employed, the type of contract, what sponsor earns before tax & NI, how long sponsor has been paid current salary and that any attached payslips are genuine.

Relationship proof

  • Pictures (12 or so, 6 per A4 page, different locations & times, annotate pictures with date and time)
  • Proof of communication (WhatsApp screenshots of 1x screenshot per month of relationship or so, 6 per A4 page)
  • Proof of visits (flight receipts, kept boarding passes)

Intention to marry

  • Wedding ring receipt
  • Engagement ring receipt
  • Emails sent to council booking an appointment with the registrar to hand in marriage forms with stated date to get married

Adequate housing

  • Picture of each room
  • Written letter from parents (as we will be staying with parents for some time) stating that we are allowed to live there indefinitely, also confirming number of rooms, size of rooms and how many people will be living in the house in total
  • Recent utility bill / council tax to show proof of address
  • Land report bought from land registry showing proof of ownership

Thanks for any and all advice guys. I also had the following question, we just made our application on the UKVISA site and have booked the biometric interview. It says in our confirmation email that we should take all supporting documents to the biometrics interview, and also to purchase a courier service. From reading around I've read that you have to mail your documents to the new york scanning hub AFTER your biometrics interview - so is it required to take them to the interview? I also read that it is possible to scan your documents and upload them instead - is this only via a premium service? We're a little lost with all of the options!

Kind regards
Craig

Hey guys, my partner and I have submitted our VISA application and I had this supporting document checklist made up before we done so, but I've just found this forum and would love if some of you could check it and let me know if I've missed anything

Application Forms

  • Online Application, completed & signed
  • Appendix 2 of VAF4A - Is this required for a fiance visa? I can't really find anywhere that mentions it - I've only noticed it from other applicants checkllists.  Yes, it's required for the fiance visa.  The application is exactly the same between the spouse visa and the fiancee visa (even down to the price!).
  • Return Shipping Label
  • Biometrics Confirmation Sheet
  • Contents Letter

Applicants Documents

  • Applicants Passport
  • Applicants cover letter (Basic facts like how we met, when we met, mention of how relationship was maintained - I've read that only a cover letter from the sponsor is required? Is it a good idea to include this?)  This isn't required, but it can be useful if you have circumstances that need explaining.

Sponsor non-financial documents

  • Photocopy of Sponsor passport
  • Sponsor cover letter (similar to applicant cover letter, including employment details)  As you seem to be aware, this letter is required.  It should briefly state that he is writing in support of your application, an outline of your relationship history, and how he is eligible to sponsor you.

Sponsor financial documents

  • Photocopy of 6 Months of payslips  These must span six FULL months, which could mean including a seventh payslip.
  • Photocopy of Bank statements showing money entering account from work pay (I've read that these only have to be stamped/signed if not on official bank stationary? Is this the case? My bank statements were sent to me by the bank on bank stationary and include the banks address)  If they were orginals posted to you by the bank, you do not need to have them stamped and authenticated.  As with the payslips, be sure you have six FULL months of statements, and not a day less.  Also make sure the bank statements you submit show all of the payslips you're relying on in your application.
  • Letter from employee of sponsor confirming sponsor is employed there, the job title, how long the sponsor has been employed, the type of contract, what sponsor earns before tax & NI, how long sponsor has been paid current salary and that any attached payslips are genuine.  This letter should be dated within 28 days before your application date (which is the day you clicked "submit" on your online application and paid the fee).

Relationship proof

  • Pictures (12 or so, 6 per A4 page, different locations & times, annotate pictures with date and time)  ONLY include 1 to 2 photos that have just you and your partner showing.  They only want to see that you have met at least once in person.
  • Proof of communication (WhatsApp screenshots of 1x screenshot per month of relationship or so, 6 per A4 page)
  • Proof of visits (flight receipts, kept boarding passes)

Intention to marry

  • Wedding ring receipt
  • Engagement ring receipt
  • Emails sent to council booking an appointment with the registrar to hand in marriage forms with stated date to get married  This item is enough.

Adequate housing

  • Picture of each room  Take these out.
  • Written letter from parents (as we will be staying with parents for some time) stating that we are allowed to live there indefinitely, also confirming number of rooms, size of rooms and how many people will be living in the house in total  Yes.  For room descriptions, just list how many bedrooms and other rooms that are not a kitchen or bathroom (living rooms, family rooms, reception rooms, etc.).  For the people living there, include whether they are adults or children and the ages of any children.
  • Recent utility bill / council tax to show proof of address  This is not needed.
  • Land report bought from land registry showing proof of ownership  Yes

Scanning your documents yourself is standard.  Scanning done by the contractor is a paid-for service for an additional fee.  I don't really know what the exact procedure is right now, as I believe they have only just recently switched (or are still in the process of switching) from visa4uk to AccessUK for online application submission.  But as far as the evidence, see my notes above.

Do you already have your evidence ready to submit?  You shouldn't submit and pay for the application until you have everything in hand and ready to go.

Hey, thanks very much for the super in-depth reply. We do have all of these ready to go, including Appendix 2, I just wasn't certain what I did and didn't have to include (I had an idea but just wanted confirmation and assurance), which you've very clearly pointed out. The only thing I'm lacking is a 7th payslip and a 7th bank statement, but that's totally fine as I can grab those right away.

My only other question really is for the bank statements, do I have to send in the original bank statements to the UKVI scanning hub, or would photocopied + printed versions (photocopied by me, printed by partner in America) be okay?

This has really helped relax some of my (extreme) nerves, very much appreciated. Thank you.

The US person should have all originals, but only send in photocopies.

Fair enough - that was our plan and what we've been doing anyway. Thank you very much for your assistance!
