Sorry for another question. Adequate Maintenance
« on: July 30, 2019, 07:56:33 PM »
Hi all, me again. Sorry for yet another question, but I keep learning different things as I research this visa thing. I found a link to a calculator and it said that based on my Universal Credit Carer Component and my Carer Allowance the 114.25 is not enough.

Obviously I do 35 hours a week caring so finding another job is tricky, and also would reduce my Universal credit. I have got some savings which if I divide by 52 weeks works out at around £34 per week. I was wondering if I could include this in my adequate maintenance calculation and then I would have £144.25 a week. I don't have to pay rent or council tax as I will be with my parents who don't pay anything due to pension age.

I was wondering if this will be ok as I really want to bring my fiance over, but if they reject the application for a few quid then it will be a waste of money and time. Any help is greatly appreciated in this matter as things are getting tricky now.

Thanks again.

Anthony

It is sooooo much easier for us if you keep your questions in one thread.   :D

How much are you currently paid weekly?  How much do you have in savings?

Thanks, I know lol.,

I get Carers Allowance weekly at £66.60
I get Universal Credit carer element is paid monthly at £191.37
and I got £1800 - £2000 in saving atm

I am unsure how they would work out my weekly total, would they work it out yearly and divide by 52 weeks or monthly and divide by 4 weeks. My savings divided by 52 weeks works out at at £34 or £36, which if I worked out to weekly I would be at £148.25 or £150.25

That is my money situation atm. Thanks for the help, much appreciated.

Is the Universal carer element paid 4 weekly or monthly?

If 4 weekly,  you are at £114.44.  If monthly, you are at £110.76.

Savings would be divided by the number of weeks the visa is issued for.  So if a spouse visa, it is issued for 33 months or 143 weeks.

So £2,000 in savings held for the past 6 months would be equal to £13.98 additional each week.

Thanks for your reply. It is paid monthly as always around the same date. Also we would be applying for Fiancé visa, so I guess this is the savings divided by 6 months or 26 weeks as it is only valid for 6 months?

Also how do I include my savings into the adequate maintenance? or do they take it into automatically if I submit a letter saying about the combination?

Thanks for the great help, really appreciate it it is a minefield to navigate. We nearly got all the documents ready and will be applying middle of August.

Once you are approved for a fiance visa, you need to make sure you will still qualify for a spousal visa once you are married. Your partner cannot work while on a fiance visa, so it will remain only your income supporting both of you for that time frame. Just something to consider unless your fiance has significant savings in their name or proceeds from a house sale.
