Is there ANY way to make my dual band ATT phone work in UK ?
« on: December 06, 2004, 05:32:37 AM »
Hi all you good peeps.

I am very attached to my dual band ATT Motorolla V60 phone i  brought with me from SF.
I've read somewhere that you need a tri-band phone to operate in the UK but i hear of all this " unlocking your phone " business so i wanted to double check to see if there was ANY way one of those " phone Kiosks " in London could unlock my phone ( i am assuming that is the right terminology hehe ).

Anyone with any experience on this matter please drop me a line
Thanks heaps
Zufan

Hi Zufan ... they can unlock it for your US network but as I understand it that won't make it work here if it's only dualband. You can always take into into one of those places and ask though.

Oh don't go to one of those! :) There's a proper shop in Chapel Market in Angel where they do phone unlocking etc, I wouldn't say they're 100% relaible but better than your dodgy kiosk.

I knew you would ask me that ..... NO. :(

It's about half way up on the right hand side if you are coming from the end closest to Upper St. You go past Woolies and T-Mobile and a couple of other shops, it has phones in the window (!!). If you can't find it just pop in T-Mobile and ask where you can get your phone unlocked, I'm sure they will know it.

Oh... I've never seen anything like that here (Edinburgh/Glasgow)... apart from the Barras!
But it sounds like a place i would totally avoid.  I would expect half their stock to be stolen or somehow 'bent'.
