FLR(M) - Application question answers
« on: October 10, 2019, 11:34:01 PM »
I'm working through the online application for my extension of my FLR(M) application and wanted to gain clarity on the following two questions:

-'Have you been out of the UK since you started living here?':
Is this referencing holidays? I know when applying for my initial spousal visa, it asked to provide time I'd spend in other countries but the formatting was different and allowed me to provide a list. This application seems to prompt you to add them one by one, which is confusing for me as I'm not sure if it's asking if I've lived elsewhere for a specific amount of time (absence) or if it's asking me to add every single country I've visited in the last 5+ years (holidays).

-'Have you previously lived in a country outside the UK including your country of birth?':
I know the answer to this is yes but what I really want to know is if I'm providing information for the previous student visas that I had within the UK as well. Does that count? So for example am I putting my birth up until my student visa in the UK and then listing the UK, then the time I was in the US again before moving back here?

Let me know if I'm talking gibberish. ???

I'm not sure if this is helpful, but I'm doing the same application and I took the question as including holidays ...so I added them all one-by one. Haven't sent it in yet, though...

It wants to know holidays.  Any time you've spent outside of the UK.
9/1/2013 - "fiancée" (marriage) visa issued
4/6/2013 - married (certificate issued same-day)
5/6/2013 - FLR(M)#1 in person -- approved!
8/1/2016 - FLR(M)#2 by post -- approved!
8/5/2018 - ILR in person -- approved!
22/11/2018 - Citizenship (online, with NDRS+JCAP) -- approved!
14/12/2018 - I became a British citizen.  :)

I'll go with that then. Is it fair to assume that they only want to know about the holidays I've had since I've been in the UK under my spousal visa beginning June 01 2017? Basically for the last 2.5 years only?

Yes, I believe that's what it's looking for when it says "...since you started living here."  Enter every time you've left the UK since you started living here on your spousal visa.

Great, thanks.

One more thing, how detailed should I be about the visits? Is work/holiday/etc. okay to put for reason for absences or do I need to tell where I went and why as well?

I think work/holiday/etc. is enough.  They don't need a complete itinerary.  For some of us, that could get quite a lot to type!
