ILR Processing times
« on: October 27, 2019, 11:01:23 AM »
I am so stressed at the moment!!

Does anyone have a clue how long processing times are for ILR? I have work breathing down my neck asking for updates as my visa expired in September. My birthday is early November and my hubby wanted to take me to Paris but that's not going to be possible. We applied on 1st of September and haven't had any news. My worry is also that I paid for Sopra Steria to scan all of my documents and noticed my BRP was left inside my folder but surely wouldn't be enough reason not to grant me ILR right?

You aren’t supposed to send your BRP anymore so that won’t be an issue.

I’m not sure how long it’s currently taking, but I would be prepared to wait up to 6 months, as that is their target processing time for ILR applications.

Yup, six months is the maximum you should wait to hear.  Likely won’t be that long, but all depends on staffing and how many people are in front of you.

For your employer, there is an employment line they can contact if they are concerned. You are covered under your old visa until you hear on the ILR.  Have you received the “we have received your application?” Email/letter yet?  If that, I’d share that with your employer.

I had my biometrics appointment back on 12/10, I applied in September, but waited to book the appointment, hoping that a free one would come up (surprise, surprise- it didn't, so still had to pay for an appointment in birmingham) but paid for them to scan my docs and I didn't upgrade to priority either, so I'm in the same boat as you!!

Here's hoping that it doesn't take the full 6 months for the decision to be made and we can finally be permanent residents with our ILR!!

Good luck! Also, please update once you've heard back from them, so I can have an idea of how much longer I might have to wait!

Just curious, is anyone complaining about the lack of free appointments? We already pay so much for the visa application, you shouldn't have to also pay more for a mandatory part of the process. I want to know what metrics sopra steria is being held to for service levels. *sigh*

I was really annoyed that I couldn't find any free appointments near me! I found maybe 1 that was in Croydon, which was so far! They even had Peterborough come up, which would have been the closest, but it never had any appointments (free or paid for) so had to settle for Birmingham and had to pay for the appointment

Thank you everyone for your replies, I haven't received anything yet, not even "your application has been received" email @KFdancer . I didn't realise it could be a 6 month wait!! I was really bothered there wasn't any free appointments available and felt with the way my employer was freaking out- not to wait too long so ended up buying an appointment the following week of my application which was the 1st of September.
@HandyTexan2014 I was hoping to visit family in Texas in February but may have to wait until April if it does go the full 6 months!

I think the most frustrating thing is the lack of communication. I know the wait sucks but if they would keep us updated- it wouldn't be so bad

Thanks Beans and Larrabee! Now onto citizenship for peace of mind. I'd like to destress for a minute then get onto it  :)
