FLR Online Application - Finances
« on: November 19, 2019, 08:28:34 PM »
Please halp!  I'm on the online FLR form and it's asking me to "confirm" that I will provide

"Letter from your employer(s) confirming employment, gross annual salary, annual salary after tax and National Insurance contributions, length of employment and type of employment (permanent, fixed-term, contract or agency)

Payslips for you covering the period of 6 months prior to the date of application, or since employment started if less than 6 months

Personal bank statements covering the same period as your pay slips, showing that your salary has been paid into your account, or an account in your and your partner's names."

I'm self-employed and I'm not sure how I got to this section and how I can bypass it.  Anyone else know?  We did the housing section and then it goes to "Are you working in the UK or overseas?" yes/no, if you click "yes" you have to put how often you get paid, and the net amount paid, but you are still asked to check the three boxes with the items I've listed above...on top of this, I am hoping to bypass this based on savings.

So you're meeting the requirements using only Category D: Savings?

If you are using only savings, then you should not mention your employment on the application form at all.

So, I believe you tick 'NO' to the "Are you working in the UK or overseas?" question, and then hopefully it will let you fill out the savings section instead.

Thanks for the prompt response, yes I want to apply under savings.  I considered doing "no" but then I start worrying about incorrect statements b/c the question is "Are you working in the UK or overseas?" which as self employed...I am.  Right? But so far the form to me isn't clear on how to do the financial requirement under savings only.  I'll go down the "no" route and see what questions I get, hopefully it will ask about savings.  I'm not sure how I feel about the online application

All they care about is that you can meet the requirement using at least ONE of the categories... doesn't matter to them which one(s).

If you meet the requirement using savings, then they don't care whether you are working or not, because your employment is not relevant to the application.

On the old paper form, you just skipped over any questions about employment and went straight to the savings section. It should be the same with the online form... you just have to know how to answer the questions to get to the right section.

Also, the online form seems to have errors on it - for example, if you are applying under Category A (which requires 6 months of payslips and bank statements), if you tick the box to say your income has varied but been above £18,600 for the whole time, it still says you have to include 12 months of statements, even though you don't!

If you're worried about making an incorrect statement, just explain within the application that you had to, in order to reach the section which applied to you. If this is the case, they will be aware of it but you'll feel better having mentioned it.
