Issue with bank re: stamping statements
« on: December 04, 2019, 08:47:19 AM »
My wife has ordered bank statements for the last 12 months online and they quoted 5-7 business days, this was Monday.

My biometrics appt. is this coming Monday, Dec. 9th and I don't really want to move it back because the time slots are scarce.

She tried going into the branch yesterday, Halifax bank, with 12 months of online statements she printed off at home from her account page, and some woman in the back was shouting at the clerk "no, no you cant do that. don't do it."

so she asked them if they could print them off there and they said they could only do 3 months worth?

not very helpful at all....I was under the assumption you could go into the branch and get the statements needed or have them stamp them?

Looked quickly back at past posts and it looks like you are applying for your initial entry visa in the UK?  If so, you do NOT want to hit apply until you have EVERY paper in hand ready.  Applying is the very last step after collecting all your documents.

I would recommend cancelling the application until you have everything in hand.  You can get a refund if you cancel prior to biometrics, after biometrics you forfeit the fee.

It should be easy to get a biometrics appointment - and we've never had an issue with anyone walking in before their appointment date and being allowed to give them straight away.

Not all banks will stamp statements.  They *should* because it's called customer service.  But some are rude and not as helpful as others.  She could simply try another branch.  HSBC is usually not cooperative about stamping but I haven't heard issues with Halifax.  She could always take a copy of the requirements with her and explain and see if she can have someone help.

I can move my biometrics back to weds or thurs of next week if worst case scenario is she doesn't get them until monday, then scans them and sends them to me to upload.

you would know far better than me but why would I be best cancelling the app and then reapplying in a day or 2, worst case scenario being this coming Monday?

I've uploaded all my docs and was double checking everything and thought I read about the stamped statements (I uploaded the pdfs from her online banking)

I was planning on deleting that upload, and then reuploading the stamped statements when she gets them and scans them in the next couple of days, prior to the biometrics appointment.

none of the financial questions would change, is there something else I am not thinking of that they would not like seeing in this scenario?

also, sorry for the additional post.

is that a real thing? can you just go to the UCIS earlier than your scheduled appointment? when I login to reschedule the appointment it tells me the earliest weekday appointment and gives me the date and the time slots to choose from.

I thought it was not a walk in service and you HAD to have an appointment?

Just a note to say that 7 business days from Monday is Wednesday, not the following Monday. So your ‘worst case scenario’ would be Wednesday (not taking into consideration that it could be even longer than that, depending on the postal service etc).

the teller at the bank told her she should have them by the weekend, so I was just going off that

We’ve never had anyone refused. I wouldn’t risk driving for 5 hours each way to be the first one refused but if it’s not a trip away it’s worth it.

I’m just risk adverse and wouldn’t want to risk a couple of thousand pounds in exchange for a few days earlier, but everyone is allowed their own level of risk.

thank you!

could you elaborate on "we" ? bit confused. are you meaning we as in anyone on this forum, or do you work at uscis or a place like it that does biometrics?

the center I would be using is in Philadelphia which is only about 1 hour away....if it is possible to just have a "walk in appointment" I would be more than willing to drive the hour each way to find out!

‘We’ as in the people on this forum. I’ve been on here for almost 13 years and have seen thousands of people apply in that time, many of whom have walked in for a biometrics appointment a few days before their booked appointment. None of them have been turned away that we know of.

Personally, my advice would be, in order of preference/least amount of risk:

1. Cancel the current application before your biometrics , apply for a refund and reapply when you have every single document in your hands and ready to upload (after all, what happens if it won’t let you delete and re-upload the bank statements? You’ll be stuck with an incomplete application which could mean a visa refusal)

2. Reschedule the biometrics appointment for as far out as you can (maybe a couple of weeks’ time, just in case), and then you could try a walk-in if you get the bank statements earlier (but again, what happens if you are unable to upload the bank statements separately to the rest of the documents?)
