When to apply for FLR(M)?
« on: January 11, 2019, 10:31:55 AM »
If my BRP ends on 01/06/2019, when is the earliest i can apply? I entered the UK on 17/09/2016 and my 30 months will be completed 17/03/2019. Can i apply in April 2019?

You can apply up to 28 days before you reach 30 months in the UK.

So, if your 30 months is up on 17th March 2019 you can apply anytime from 17th February 2019 up until your visa expiry date of 1st June.

However, the visa fees are likely to increase in early April, so the sooner you apply, the better :).

Are we no longer worried about people not having enough time on the FLR, to make it to ILR?

Not sure - I didn’t think we’d been worried about that for a while.

They are supposed to make the new FLR(M) valid starting from the expiry date of the previous one, so I didn’t think it was an issue anymore.

To the OP: if you’re concerned though, you can wait a little longer and apply from March onwards.

To be clear, if you apply a week before your expiry date, this means that you'll likely be sitting in the UK with an expired BRP while it's still in processing? I assume that's OK because any check they do will show you're in process?  Asking b/c my expiry date is end of August next year, and I'd like to take a holiday in Europe next summer before applying!

As long as you submit a valid application before your current visa expires, you are protected under section 3c and your current permissions are extended.
