Hi all,

My husband's been offered a MASSIVE opportunity in another country- a big climb in his title, responsibilities, and salary. We'd be planning on moving abroad for only 2-3 years and then head back to England.

I've received my second FLR(m) visa this last autumn, and I'm about 2 years away from my ILR/ UK citizenship.

If we move, would I be able to come back and use the time I've done on my spousal visa so far (3 years)? Or will my citizenship journey start over and I'd have to do five more years before becoming a UK citizen?

Thanks, and I look forward to any insight. Very stressful but it's such a great opportunity :(

You’ll have to start over, unfortunately.

You would have to start over.

Since this seems to be a great opportunity, would it be absurd if I suggest you stay in the UK for the remaining two years? Unsure if this is possible if your spouse is not resident with you but worth a look.

If not, then yeah - if you leave you'll have to start over.
