FLR(M) processing times
« on: October 21, 2019, 08:49:59 PM »
I don't think there's a feed on this like the spousal visa processing times feed, but does anyone know how long it's taking for the FLR(M) extensions?

I'm due to have my biometrics appointment in the next couple of weeks, but am a bit worried that I won't get a decision back before Christmas and I'm assuming if I submit my application and don't hear back by then, then I can't travel over the holidays.

I just completed the online application today (non-priority). My biometrics appointment is Wednesday. I’m just hoping to get it back by April. My friend applied for her extension last December and didn’t get hers until late April.

Just adding to say my dear friend received his FLR(M) *and* BRP from 4 weeks to the day that he had his biometric processing.

Hooray for him and his husband! Here's hoping the rest of us are processed in as timely a fashion. :)

Thanks for the positivity :).
Do you happen to know when his appointment was?

When I started my visa journey, I did a bit of digging about times as I was going to be applying in November. From what I could tell, things slow down around the holidays, so applications submitted around December tend to take longer. (A lot of companies here shut down their offices between Christmas and New Years, so its likely that the Home Office is the same.)
Due to this, I paid for priority service on my first visa...applied mid-november and it arrived back December 15th. I also paid for an in-person appointment for FLR(M) because I do not trust sending my passport in the mail or that the home office wouldn't have lost something....seen far too many of those stories. It was totally worth it for me that time though. The in-person appointment was great. ....I'd gladly pay the 800 for that if only they still had them.

They do still have them - they’re just not same-day decisions anymore, they’re 24-hour decisions, and I believe you get to keep your passport anyway because you upload a copy now.

smelton -- my friend received his BRP just last week, so he would have had his biometrics appointment in early November I think. He completed the application in October if I recall correctly, but had to wait several weeks for the appointment (he's in the London area).

No, I mean the way that the in-person appointment was, not just the quick turn around. Biometrics taken then and there, so no worries about servers crashing or other technical issues. Most importantly, when I gave over my documents, the woman went through my checklist with me to confirm I had everything there that was on that list. I handed them all to her, she gave them all back afterwards. No risk of the home office loosing something or something not getting uploaded properly. Also, could book 42 days in advance so had plenty of time to organise and give notice to work. And yes, immediate turn around was a huge thing. I think I had a 1030am appt and was on my way home by 1530.  Plus the people that I dealt with were just super nice. I started crying when she handed me my letter, and she was just beaming at me saying congratulations.

Bullet = bit. I've applied today, and have my biometrics appointment on Monday afternoon. Will be scanning my many docs today and tomorrow and then hopefully... calming down a bit... until biometrics. I wish I could say I felt relieved. Haha.

I know how you feel. I was hoping to have everything done by Christmas so I could take that as a break to recoup before submitting in January, but I've sadly been dragging my feet with the application. Hopefully everyone gets prompt return on their applications

I called to attempt to check on the progress of my application as I was getting antsy ahead of Christmas and travelling. I got a progress update from the UKVI contact centre, advising 'a package has been dispatched' with a tracking number for recorded delivery that has just been posted today. Hopefully this is a good thing.
