ILR date check. Lining up those ducks.
« on: February 10, 2020, 12:50:24 PM »
ILR and Naturalisation date check.

I am a Brit and my wife is on a Spouse Visa

17 Aug 2017:  Landed UK - Spouse Visa date stamp on the original passport
6   Feb 2020:  FLR(M) approved.
6   Aug 2022  is 30 months from FLR(M) being granted and FLR(M) expires.  [edit: Actual expiry 3 Sep 2022]
17 Aug 2022  is 5 years from first landing.

So... the first day we can apply for ILR is
20 July 2022  which is 28 days before 5 years from first landing with Spouse Visa and before FLR(M) expiry.

My questions for the experts are:
1) Does this look right?
2) Our application schedule has been a bit over-efficient :) due to travel commitments, so we are tight on the ILR application window. Once the application is submitted and being processed is the FLR(M) validity extended?
3) Is there a definitive list of docs required for ILR - or is it the same as FLR(M) and is the financial requirement the same (i.e. savings). I like to have these ducks lined up...

Many thanks in advance for all advice and guidance,

Matt

1- Yes. The way I count, it's 21st July but I think everyone else does it your way.  :)

2-Yes. Once a valid, in-time application has been submitted, your current visa conditions are extended under section 3c. https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/771652/3C-3D-Leave-v9.0ext.pdf

3-The differences from FLR are.

-You need a life in the UK test pass.
-The correspondence is spread over 2.5 years.
-The savings requirement is less. 18.6k + 16 k = 34.6k gbp.
-There is no IHS to pay!

Thank you so much for this.  It is really appreciated.

So for the correspondence over 2.5 years,  what is the optimal spacing and recommended number of pieces? Now I know our date of ILR application I'm going to compile it on the way...

Matt

It's the same 6 joint or up to 12 individual pieces or a combination of both, from at least 3 different sources. It works out the tidiest if you pop in one extra joint equivalent piece and space it every 5 months. That way you're covered from beginning to end.
