Visa for retiring in the UK
« on: February 20, 2020, 04:27:36 PM »
Hello!  I'm a retired American diplomat and my wife and I would like to re-locate to the UK.  Does anyone know if there have been any changes in the "retirement visa?"  I saw something that said there may be changes due to Brexit, but I haven't seen anything yet.

Does anyone have good advice on how to proceed?

Thanks!

Robert

Welcome to the forum :).

Unfortunately, the ‘Retired Person of Independent Means’ visa was abolished several years ago (back in 2008) so it’s not possible to apply for one anymore, I’m afraid.

Hi Robert, welcome.  :)

If you are a high net worth individual, you might want to take a look at the Tier 1 investor visa. https://www.gov.uk/tier-1-investor
