Oh dear... I was hoping someone can review this checklist... we're really hoping to be able to apply asap and pay already to kick off the next step I'm assuming biometrics appointment.

Also regarding 13)   Evidence of monthly housing costs for the accommodation in the UK where you live or will live.

From previous FLR(M) applications we only submitted a private rental tenancy agreement... Are we going to also need a letter from the landlord?  I read online some people submitted that, but not sure if because of a different situation and the online ILR application never requested it.  Any advice always appreciated of course! :)

Again, not sure if we should also send a couple pictures... I would hate to send more than what is required and annoy them :(

Give us some time. We all have busy lives and most of us work full-time as well as helping out on the forum. For example, I was in bed early last night and up at 5:30am for work this morning.

If you are both named on the tenancy agreement, then you do not need a letter from the landlord. You will also need your latest council tax bill for this section as well.

So, you include:
- tenancy agreeement
- council tax statement

You do not need to send any pictures. They are not needed for ILR and they were not needed for FLR(M) either.

You only need to send pictures for the initial spousal visa, but even then, you should send only 1 photo (2 at most), with no one else in it other than you and your spouse... this is to meet the initial spousal visa requirement that you have met 1 time in person.

Okay, your post is kind of confusing, so I'm going to try to rearrange the documents you are submitting into the different requirement sections, so I can see them more clearly.

Application Documents
- Your current/valid USA passport
- Any other USA passports you have held since arriving in the UK 5 years ago
- Your BRP card
- Canadian passport
- Your wife's UK passport
- IHS surcharge number/receipt
- Completed/Signed – Declaration for spouses, civil partners, proposed civil partners, fiancé(e)s, and unmarried partners

Residence in the UK
Proof of housing costs
- tenancy agreement
- Council tax statement

Proof of correspondence
Since you are applying in March, you now need to cover September 2017 to March 2020.

September 2017
1) You: TSB Bank Checking Account Statement (Source 1) - dated August but probably okay to use
1) Your Wife: DVLA Acknowledgment slip that confirms she’s not the registered keeper of our last car. (Source 2)

February 2018
2) You: ?
2) Your wife: ?

June 2018
3) Joint – TSB Bank Checking Account Statement

November 2018
4)  Joint – TSB Bank Savings Account Statement

April 2019
5) You: ?
5) Your Wife: ?

A March 3rd statement is a month too early.

September 2019
6) You: TSB Bank Checking Account Statement (joint names)
6) Your wife: NHS Letter (Dated August 29, 2019) (Source 3)

Optional extra: March 2020
7)  You: ?
7) Your Wife: ?

Proof of Finances
- TSB Bank Savings Statement 1 (Covers Nov. 2nd, 2018 to Nov. 3rd 2019)
- TSB Bank Savings Statement 2 (Covers Nov. 4th, 2019 to Feb. 2nd, 2020)
- In-Branch printed statements accompanied by a letter from local TSB Branch showing sufficient funds in the account with each page stamped and within 28 days of application.
(Why do you have so many items here? If TSB statements 1 and 2 cover all the dates, why are you also including all the in-branch statements too?)

Other documents:
- Marriage Certificate
- Kids Full Birth Certificates
- Kids British Passports
- Letter dated within 3 months from kids school showing that they are registered with school and shows their current address.

Thanks ksand24, really appreciate, okay I'll go with the format you have put it in.

Yes, only one USA passport (one that has initial UK Visa), when entering the UK (visiting) previously I was using my Canadian passport, so as long as I submit both, should be fine.  Luckily American passports last for 10 years unlike Canadian adult passports, which are valid only for 5 years, unless that changed since.

2) You: ?

Should be able to find something, and will dig them out tonight, thanks!

April 2019
5) You: ?
5) Your Wife: ?
A March 3rd statement is a month too early.
I'm afraid, we don't have anything in that month with my wife's name on it, I have TSB bank statement in my name only (again, TSB Bank messed up and started sending statements with names separately and some months they never sent her statement, even though nothing changed, it was obviously something on TSB side of things - completely out of our control).

So the only thing I can do is include something (probably will include my TSB bank classic account statement) that's in my name for April, 2019 and maybe type up a letter explaining this?.... Also the home office, should clearly see that the account number is the same for all the TSB Bank statements submitted.

Optional extra: March 2020
7)  You: ?
7) Your Wife: ?
Easy... can easily use our TSB bank statements, luckily TSB fixed their system and about 6 months back, and they started sending us just one statement with both our names on it, since it's always been a joint account!!

Because from what I understand you have to prove finances up to at least 28 days before the application date.  So using today's date even... that puts us of having to prove finances for the last 6 months up to Feb 12th, 2020... and the mailed statements only go up to Feb 2nd, 2020.

Also... btw for correspondence "4)  Joint – TSB Bank Savings Account Statement" does this count as a separate source?   Although it's a savings account also with TSB Bank, technically it's a separate account (not same as our Checking account).  For something to be counted as different source, does it have to be another company?

Quote
- IHS surcharge number/receipt
Oh!... also what's this that you added!?  If it's the nhs surcharge... it never came up during the online process like it did for my last flr(m) application? So i just assumed didn't apply to ILR?

Quote
Who does not need to pay or get an IHS reference number
You’ll be able to use the NHS without paying the surcharge or getting a reference number if:

you’re applying for indefinite leave to enter or remain
....
okay I think we're good, because I grabbed this right off the gov.uk website... And also when trying to pay it on the gov.uk website, ILR is not one of the available choices in the dropdown, only things like FLR, etc...

Thanks again ksand24!  It's looking like we're almost there then!! :)

That's good - yeah, you should be fine with those.

Some people renew their passport while in the UK, either because it's expiring, or because they are changing their name, so they will have 2 (or more) US passports to submit.

Ah, did you mention this previously? It seems familiar. If so, I'd forgotten... which is why we recommend keeping everything in one thread, then we can recall your situation and we don't have to rehash the same advice all over again.

I would include both the March and April 2019 statements and include a note explaining the issue.

Great :).

Do you not have any other bills or anything at all that you could use? Annual council tax statements, water bills, gas or electricity bills, phone bills, TV/internet bills etc.? You may have already covered this in a previous post but it's not in this thread, so I don't know.

Oh, okay, so what you mean is, you have:
- Nov 2018 to Nov 2019 original statement
- Nov 2019 to Feb 2nd 2020 original statement
- Feb 2nd to Feb 12th 2020 partial statement printed by the bank and stamped/accompanied by a letter

I thought you meant you had two sets of full statements covering November 2019 to Feb 2020.

No, it's all one source, because they are all statements from a bank.

Oh, sorry. I keep forgetting that there is no IHS surcharge for ILR. So, just ignore that.

I noticed that some of the months were not evenly spaced out (every 5 months), so I revised my list tonight to:
  • September 2017
  • February 2018
  • July 2018
  • December 2018
  • May 2019
  • October 2019
  • March 2020

We pretty much have every month in the above list covered except for May 2019, where the TSB bank statement is only in my name, again same account number, so I'll also include our March tsb bank statements and a dr. letter addressed to my wife in August.  Plus the case worker will easily see from all the other tsb bank statements that it's a joint account and the same account number.  So I'm pretty confident (and happy :)) now that we'll be submitting 3/4 different sources and evenly spaced out letters/documents :)

Again thanks very much for your help and always great to get a 2nd opinion on this stuff!  You rock!

Now I get the pleasure of going shopping on the UK immigration site and spending over £3200!!  [smiley=bigcry.gif]
