PPE

Speaking of feel good but essentially useless efforts , I've had my NHS volunteer app on for 96 hours now and have only gotten 2 requests for help.  Both were from the same lady who thinks she might need someone to shop for her in the future but right now she's just bored.  I keep getting emails from the NHS saying that someday soon they are going to ask us to do something.

I tell you Jim., you have already helped that lady more than you know just by confirming that you will be there for her when she does need you.

  That's nice, I hadn't thought about it that way.  She may not know it, but I don't think I'll ever be assigned to help her again to protect both of us.  But anyway, I think I made her a little less bored at least.

I think most people are trying to keep calm and carry on and to  not burden other people unless they have to. There are a lot of local groups and volunteers outside of the official app that are helping people out too. We had a flyer through our door on the first week of the lockdown. We haven't used them yet, but we would if my in-laws couldn't help. (Though they are supposed to pick up my medication for me and I run out of it tomorrow... honestly, I'm annoyed by this as I told my husband it could have been picked up as early as last Wednesday).

I’ve been wondering the same thing.  I hope I didn’t offend when I asked if everything was okay as she seemed a bit frustrated at the UK when she was always so in love with it before.

I don't think it came across that way,  hopefully Nan didn't either. It seemed to me to be a caring and perceptive question.
