Hello all,

I'm applying for my settlement visa as I've been here 5 years now. They originally screwed up my first spouse visa and gave me the 2.5 years, but I should have had the 5 year one. I originally entered in march 2015. My residence permit says it's valid until the 18th of June 2020 so I am assuming I need to hit submit on the online application no later than the 18th of June.

As I'm gathering up all my documentation I just have a quick question about providing my degree and a NARIC letter. My father has sent me my diploma from Arizona, but it seems like it's taking a lot longer than expected. I am from the US and I noticed that one other person here suggested clicking no to the do you have a degree question that would help me in case my diploma doesn't come in time and I could submit sooner.

Does anyone know if this is ok?

Thanks!

Say no. Your US passport is proof of English language ability. That is all they are checking with that question, your education doesn't come into it..

That's correct - if you have not submitted the application by the end of 18th June, you will become an illegal overstayer on 19th June.

You actually qualified to apply for ILR back in February (28 days before the date in March you arrived in the UK), so 18th June is the ABSOLUTE LATEST you can submit the online application.

If you are from the US and have a US passport, you are exempt from meeting the English Language requirement and you DO NOT need to provide evidence of your degree, nor do you need to provide a NARIC letter. This should have been the case for your previous applications as well.

All you need to do is tick that you are exempt from the requirement due to being a citizen of an English-speaking country, and your US passport will be your proof of English Language. In that case, it should not be asking if you have a degree, but if it does, just tick NO.

Thank you both! I think the question they pose in order for me to select no to the English langue question is very confusing. I've updated my application now.

Just another quick question - I've booked my life in the UK test, and bought the 2020 handbook, but do you have any tips on making sure I pass the test?
