The biometrics are part of every application, to make sure you are who you say you are.

I shared an update about this on a thread that I also started - but for anyone here who may also be curious.

I received an email this morning (4th July) saying that I've been identified as eligible for a new approach where they're reusing biometrics from previous applications. No details about what makes me eligible for this - maybe because I'm already on FLRM and just applying for my renewal.

It says that I will not need to attend an appointment at a UKVCAS service point, but I will be contacted in the next few weeks with details of new steps for submitting a facial image as part of the identification verification process. If my application is approved, this will allow UKVI to produce my new BRP.

No further details of the rest of the process though. Also not sure if they're now able to get my documents from the UKVCAS site or if they'll be asking me to provide those as well.
They emailed me last week asking for me to submit just my documents for evidence that my sponsor and I have lived together.

One can only hope that the pandemic will maybe force the home office to rethink they're processes and try to streamline things - if they can do it now, surely they can do it for the longer term!!! (Maybe a bit wishful thinking)
