Well this is some good news.

I gather we will need to upload the documents ourselves onto UKVCAS as part of this allowance rather than let them do it at the appointment.

We uploaded all our documents ourselves to the UKVCAS site.  We have not heard anything yet!

I find this change amazing as I have previously asked my MP why this could not be done back in April, on the 9th June he got a reply from UKVI

With regards to the above concern.  It should be noted that in line with our procedures we require anyone making an application for a Biometric Residence Permit to have their biometrics enrolled under the Immigration (Biometric Registration) Regulations 2008, unless they have been exempted.  The enrolment of biometrics in this way enables us to verify the claimed identity of an applicant to a high standard.  Therefore, each new application requires the re-enrolment of biometrics for the same reason.

Whilst I am very pleased this change has happened for all those who have and are applying for a FLR (M) visa (my wife included), I am very disappointed it has taken them this long to decide to make the change and that they must have known it was on the cards back in early June.  We are still to hear ourselves from UKVCAS whether we need to attend an appointment - the application was submitted on 11th May with all the necessary documents loaded to the website at the time of the application.

We just got the email telling us not to attend an appointment.  We applied for ILR on 14th May.

UKVI have identified you as being eligible for this new approach involving biometric reuse.

Importantly, this new digital approach means you will not have to attend an appointment at a UKVCAS Service Point.

We are also working closely with UKVI to develop a new way for you to submit a facial image. Once this is launched, you will have to submit your facial image as part of the identification verification process so that, if leave is granted, UKVI will be able to produce your new biometric residence permit (BRP).

We will be in touch over the next few weeks with the details of this new approach and to confirm next steps.

This would be amazing. I just submitted biometrics in March for ILR and it seems silly to do them again so soon after for citizenship.
