Dual citizen and family figuring out what's next
« on: July 24, 2020, 10:05:29 PM »
Greetings. I'm a dual UK/US citizen (originally from the UK), living in the US with a British husband (a PR in the US).  One son who is also dual US/UK (born and grew up in the US) and is currently  at uni in the UK.

After many, many years of living and working in the US, we are considering a permanent move back to the UK but it's complicated and there are so many things that I don't know. Hoping you lovely people will be able to answer some (probably stupid) questions, and looking to learn from posts already made.

Looking forward to participating.

Welcome to the forum :)

Feel free to browse the forum topics/sections and don’t hesitate ask any questions you have about making the move :)

Given that all of you hold UK citizenship, you will have it easier than most people here when it comes to legally moving to the UK, because you won’t have to worry about qualifying for any UK visas :).

Thank you.

And yes, visas are about the only thing I don't have to worry about!

Welcome! The visas are the hardest part, so hopefully the rest of the forum is helpful to you. :)

I'm sure it will be. I've been back to the UK every year for most years that I've been away, but I haven't lived or worked there for a very long time. Almost my entire adult working life has been in the US, so there are many, many things I have to find out about work, housing, banks, moving, tax, etc etc that are the same sorts of questions that anyone moving to the UK from the US would have to ask.
